Standard Accounts

These accounts give you wide flexibility in how you connect to the Internet. Using a PPP connection and a dialup account, your machine becomes a node directly attached to the Internet. Unlike AOL and CompuServe, ald.net Services uses standard internet protocols for your connection, so you can use whatever protocols you need, like IPSec VPN connections for secure communications.

Part-time Dialup Accounts

Standard Dialup Account

This is your basic 56K modem dialup connection. It allows you to surf the web, read email, and all the normal net based things. This is a single attended connection account. That means that you have to be physically using the computer. You cannot leave it connected continuously.

This account is usable as a dialup with WebTV for those that are not local to a WebTV dialup point.

1 B ISDN Dialup Account

This is the same as the standard dialup account but it uses a single ISDN B channel for near instant-on connections.

2 B ISDN Account

Same as the 1 B ISDN except that it uses both of the ISDN B channels for twice the speed.

Static IP

All of the above accounts use dynamic IPs. Each time you connect you get a new and different IP number. A static IP gives you the same IP number every time you connect.

Extra POP3 Mailbox

Dialup accounts come with 2 POP3 mailboxes. The extra mailbox is in case you need more. Very often families will use the two mailboxes as "his" and "hers" and get an extra mailbox for the "kids". We also offer free email accounts (web-based) through www.youreasymail.com.

POP3 to IMAP upgrade

Upgrade one POP3 account to a secure IMAP account. If you access your mail from multiple locations, then an IMAP mail account is for you. Our IMAP server offers secure email, 100 MB of storage, anti-virus and anti-spam filtering, multiple folders under your control, and secure web-based access for those times when you need to access your email from a hotel, cybercafe, library, or friend's computer.

An extra IMAP account. See above for features.

Local Shell

Local shell is available to customers who have either a dialup or web page account with us. If you don't know what "shell" is then you don't need it.

Domain Name Service

This is Domain Name Service. This service translates your domain name to the IP numbers of the machines that provide your internet services. Without this service, a domain name is not very useful.

Remote Shell

This is shell access for non-customers.

Discounts

We have two types of discounts - pre-payment, and organizational.

Discounts are not cumulative. You get the best discount that applies to your service. Pre-payment discounts are not available on all services. Organizational discounts are limited to part-time dialup accounts and optional services only, and are not available on business accounts or packages.

Full-Time Dedicated Connection Accounts

Dedicated connections permit your machine to remain connected 24 hr / day, seven days a week. These are available everwhere our dialup accounts are available, unlike DSL.

DSL and Leased Lines

We provide multiple alternatives for fractional T-1 and higher speed connections.

$20.00 charge on all returned checks
Accounting is done on the first of the month.
Except for the first month of service, hours are not prorated.
